Principal's Welcome

My name is Tania Fragnito and it is my pleasure to introduce myself as the Principal of Waikerie Lutheran Primary School (WLPS). WLPS is a school with a diverse range of students, dedicated staff, and a supportive local community.

My career in education started in Queensland where I taught Years 4, 6 and 7 for some years, I then relocated to Tokyo where I taught in both Japanese and international schools. Upon return to Australia, I worked in several early childhood leadership and junior primary teaching positions, prior to accepting the appointment of principal at WLPS from the start of 2022.

I view education as a lifelong process and will continue to learn with and through our school community as we strive to deliver the best possible outcomes for all our students and families. I believe in placing student well-being and learning at the centre of all school decisions. In addition, student voice and agency are strong aspects of the high quality, internationally accredited IB Primary Years Programme offered at WLPS.

WLPS is one of eighty Lutheran schools in the Lutheran Education Australia network. We are part of a well organised system of schools with a long and distinctive tradition. We view each student as uniquely created by God with inherent dignity and worth. We strive to be a secure place which offers warm, caring relationships and a safe environment. We embrace high standards of teaching and learning, promote Christian growth and development, and work as a team with parents and caregivers. We see ourselves as part of the wider community.
